The First Three Weeks: Abbey Road

Where do I start? First, I can’t believe my baby girl will be three weeks old tomorrow at 8:30pm and second I can’t believe its been over three weeks since our last blog post. Please forgive us…we just had a beautiful baby girl!

one day old and I already have my parents wrapped around my little fingers

Meet Abbey Road Herron – Born on 11/22/11 in a dramatic fashion of course (as I knew she would)! Abbey was born via c-section after 24 hours of labor at 8:30pm weighing 8lbs 1.3oz and 21 inches long. Isn’t she gorgeous?

George and I have been in a state of happy exhaustion and I couldn’t imagine our lives without our little peanut. Abbey does the simplest but to us the most amazing things ever. She breastfed right after birth and according to doctors and LC’s she is a champ at sucking, she has great head control already that amazes us and our pediatrician, she has gained weight since birth and makes wet and dirty diapers. Trust me, when you are parents to a newborn these are all super exciting accomplishments.

What else have we been up to? Lots of visitors! We’ve had so many people to come visit our sweet girl and we couldn’t be happier to share her with everyone. Our Abbey Road is quite the loved little girl and its exciting to see everyone’s faces when they see her for the first time. Thank you to all our visitors who have helped us out so much with cleaning the house, letting us sleep or bringing us food. We are appreciative.

Abbey had her first bath! I have to admit, I was super excited about this milestone. Abbey’s umbilical cord FINALLY came off after two weeks and we were ready for her to smell like a fresh Johnson & Johnson baby. She wasn’t too thrilled about the bath but we had a blast for all of the 5 minutes that she was in there. It was quick but we got the job done and she was smelling so yummy afterwards.

wahhhhh.....I'm wet and cold.....wahhhhh!

dry me off!

Oh yea, mom and dad have had the opportunity to go on our first post-Abbey date! My company, US Digital Partners, had their holiday party and Cooking with Caitlin fed us and then took our picture. Thanks to Grandma Bird for being Abbey’s first babysitter. And thanks to my boss, Mark Miller, for my first post-baby beer. Stella, YUM!

Thanks for the great pic Molly, Cooking with Caitlin

  1. Sam’s delivery was EXACTLY the same. Those sneaky babies making us do twice the work! Keep posting pictures, she is lovelyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Thanks Katie! Yes, that was the whole reason for being induced 1-week early to AVOID the c-section. Either way, she is healthy and here and that is all that matters to us. Give Sam kisses.

  2. CONGRATS!!! She’s precious!! I’ve been anxiously checking your blog for weeks hoping nothing went wrong!! I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying motherhood! Enjoy every minute of Abbey!

P.S. I can’t believe you already went out on a date! It took us at least 6 weeks!

    • The c-section part was a bit intense but other than that we are all doing great. With the holidays there was a good excuse to get out. Don’t get me wrong it was still hard but was nice that a grandma was in charge. Merry Christmas Marissa!
