{Prego with Jack} 28 weeks and some change

This post was intended to go out before I started my 29th week of pregnancy, guess what? Right, that didn’t happen and now I’m on my 29th week. Either way, most of the update is still valid and fun to read nonetheless.

28 Weeks Pregnant comparison photo

If you couldn’t tell, I’m 28 weeks with Abbey on the left and 28 weeks and a few days pregnant with Jack on the right. As much as I feel HUMONGO with Jack right now I still feel pretty great.

{How far along?} 28 Weeks and 5 days (or so)

{Total weight gain} I have actually gained quite a bit of weight with this pregnancy, I think I have gained over 20 pounds and I’m inching close to 30. Damn, it is seriously in my belly and thighs!

{How big is baby?} Jack should be about 2.5 lbs and around 16 inches in length. Here are some 3D images of our little photogenic baby boy from our Becoming Mom Spa ultrasound (love that hubby and Abbey for getting this for me).

26 weeks 3D Ultrasound

 26 Weeks 3D Ultrasound26 Weeks 3D Ultrasound{Maternity clothes?} YES! I have been in a buying frenzy with new maternity clothes this time around.  For some reason, everything looks cute and I love the whole black tights with loose fitting shirt and boots look. Totally rocking the bump!

{Sleep?} I’m doing okay, I have a few nights where sleep is more tossing and turning than others. I think I’m due for a pre-delivery massage at BecomingMom Spa. Yep, I’m doing it!

{Best moment this week?} With Abbey around, this pregnancy is so enjoyable from her point of view. We talked about sharing mommy and daddy and Ab didn’t want to have any part in sharing her daddy with Jack. “That’s my daddy!” Okay then, we’ll have to work on that a bit. I also love that Ab will look in my belly button and say that she can see him. She also has one of the 3D ultrasound pictures framed in her bedroom and she talks to him. Adorable!

{Movement?} I love these posts and doing comparisons with my pregnancy with Abbey is so much fun. This is what I had for 28 weeks with Ab: “LOTS! She is still a night owl and likes to move around during the 9-10:30 time. She does move some during the day and normally mid-morning she is pretty active. I’m wondering how many naps this little girl is taking everyday and sort of wishing I could take them with her.”

This is pretty true with Jack too! He is so active at night, it ping-pongs around but mostly stays in my lower right part of my belly and is VERY low so he just about makes me pee myself at least one time a day.

{Food cravings?} I love BREAKFAST!!! No super duper cravings right now but I do love to eat so I need to watch that!

{Labor signs?} Well… I think I was having a braxton hick over the weekend. George said he is going to rat me out to Dr. Caligaris, I think it was nothing.

{Belly button in or out?} In….barely!

{What I miss} What the hell is wrong with me, I miss B E E R!!!!

{What I’m looking forward to} I just had a freak out moment where I remembered a few things that we need to get for Jack so I’m looking forward to some SHOPPING!

{Milestone} I’m still working out, staying active and enjoying every second of this blessing.

A couple final thoughts:

1. I put together a Pinterest board “Baby/Toddler Products We Love” for a few 1st-time mommy friends. Thought I would share in case anyone wants to send it off as reference.

2. Take a minute to pray for baby Conner who gained his wings late Friday night while snuggling in the arms of his mommy and daddy. Conner was just 15 months old and had survived so much as a baby born with CHARGE syndrome. Babies are a blessing and when they are 100% healthy it is an absolute miracle. Prayers and love to Nikki and Josh as they mourn their baby boy.Baby Conner Logsdon

2013 at The Herron Nest, Not Too Shabby

I know that I’m publicly sharing this post but I have to admit that the reason I wrote it would be more self serving. Reminiscing about 2013 and thinking about all the great moments and happy memories that we created makes me well-up a little but also makes me proud of hubs, myself and Ab. There were a fair share of ups and downs (we’ll get to those) but an overall great year. Here are the highlights by month:

{January} NYE Spaghetti

  • Rang in the new year with our little girl at LaRosa’s, there was spaghetti sauce EVERYWHERE! I remember that we actually tried getting into a semi-nice restaurant first, which was a joke.
  • Celebrated George’s birthday
  • George lands a new position at Kroger and is uber happy
  • Ab started swimming lessons

{February}

  • The only thing I can think of was really training for the 1/2 marathon
  • And Valentine’s day
  • Does anything else happen during this month?

{March}

  • I participated in the Cinciditarod which was one of the biggest mistakes of 2013 – it SUCKED!
  • George and I saw an awesome Beatles tribute band at Belterra Casino
  • I started a weight-loss transformation that changed my body, our family’s health and made me a different person (after the sucky Cinciditarod)
  • We started tearing up our kitchen which turned into THE major project of the year (or so I thought at the time).

{April} BeachBaby

  • Florida vacation
  • Our first trip to Disney
  • Visiting with Aunt Sue and Uncle Jack in Florida
  • Celebrated my parent’s 36th wedding anniversary.

{May} Pig Ladies

  • I ran in the Cincinnati Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon with my best friend and cousin, Kat.
  • I turned 31 (blerg)
  • I became a health coach for Take Shape For Life and started coaching others to optimal health
  • George started another season coaching for Butler County Challenger Baseball

{June}

photo (68)

  • Many awesome weekends spent at Fox Run
  • Time spent on Papa’s new pontoon boat on Brookville lake
  • Fun at Gower Park and the Sharonville Pool (our favs)

{July} Nashville_July'13

  • George and I took a family of three vacation and trucked ourselves down to Nashville for a long holiday weekend….in the rain. Literally, rain the ENTIRE time.
  • I made my 40 pound goal
  • George and I saw Willie Nelson in concert, 4 rows back!
  • George coached the Butler County Challenger Red Sox during the 2013 Butler County State Tournament – it was hot but he did a fantastic job.
  • and apparently got pregnant!
  • Celebrated my in-laws anniversary and started to share the news of my pregnancy with family
  • THEN found out my brother-in-law and sister-in-law were also pregnant and due 5 weeks before us

{August}

  • Spent a lot of time together as a family playing at “Abbey’s Park” and “Abbey’s Pool” in Sharonville
  • Put new gutters on the house and put the final touches on the brand-spankin-new-kitchen (thanks to Grandpa and Uncle Tom)
  • George had his tonsils removed (YAY) and miraculously stopped snoring (bonus)
  • Abbey and I did the Super Hero Run for Pro Kids with Grandma Herron, Sarah, CJ and Henry

{September} 20130921-174809.jpg

  • Started to share pregnancy news with all family and friends!
  • Celebrated a combined loss of 216 lbs in just the women of my family
  • Celebrated my nephew’s, Henry, 2nd birthday
  • Celebrated the wedding of Zeek and Nicole and watched my dad actually marry a couple, good job Rev!
  • Spent the majority of our “extra” time and money at Home Depot, Lowes, and Menards

{October}

  • Put the house on the market
  • Got an offer 2 days later
  • Was under contract 1 day after that
  • Celebrated our 8th Wedding anniversary
  • Then the offer fell threw, whomp whomp whomp
  • Abbey went to Disney On Ice and because of my killer blogging hook-up we got to see Mickey and Minnie backstage!

Abbey and Mason Meeting Mickey & MInnie

  • Spent Thanksgiving with all of our family, blessed!

{December}

  • Took said house off the market for the winter (we’ll be back on in the Spring, don’t you worry!)
  • Celebrated Mason’s 3rd birthday, my silly Bubby!
  • Celebrated the Christmas season all December long thanks to WARM 98 and the non-stop Christmas music Ab demanded 🙂
  • Spent time with family in Louisville, KY at the Galt House and Christmas Village (highly recommend)
  • Got through Abbey and George colds
  • Celebrated Christmas about 6 times and loved every crazy-lovin moment!

Happy Holidays at The Herron Nest

We at The Herron Nest are feeling pretty blessed this holiday season. We have had a very merry Christmas with so many family gatherings, toys littered all over the floor and quality family-time with each other. Here are a few pics from the last week that sums up the pure joy from all of us.

Meeting Jack in 3D

Meeting Jack in 3D

As I settle in on a Sunday night (football in the background of course), I’m reflecting on the last week and what a whirlwind it has been. No better way to wrap up Christmas than to see our baby boy in 3D – he is so handsome! I’m hoping for continued health for both Jack and myself in my last trimester. After seeing him and comparing his features to Abbey, I’m more excited to meet our little man but I’m cherishing these moments with Abbey as a family of three. What a great way to begin to wrap up 2013, such a great year!

#VioletVoxBox Review for YOU

voxbox-blogimage-popup2I am one of the lucky Influenster members that was sent the Violet VoxBox this month to use and review a variety of different products. Because I am a member of Influenster, I received all products complimentary, lucky muah! If you are also interested in a similar opportunity, you can certainly strut your social media and blogging credentials at www.influenster.com. It did take a little while to get my first package but so worth the wait!

Now that the legalese is done, let’s get to the good stuff, what products I was sent and how I thought of each.

My #VioletVoxBox came in the mail during the first major snow storm in Cincinnati, literally through rain, sleet and snow this violet still bloomed and made its way to my door step…in a violet colored box of course.

#Influenster #VioletVoxBox The contents couldn’t fly out of the box fast enough, I love getting these packages in the mail because they are typically something that will make me feel like a better version of myself. It is amazing what a little makeup, nail polish, and good hair products can do for a woman’s mood, right?

#Influenster #VioletVoxBox contents{Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spa} Hands down, this is by far my favorite product out of all the products I was sent to try. The application was a cinch and it made my skin feel amazing. You didn’t have to dig your fingers into a jar, get mask “stuff” stuck under your nails and make a complete mess of your bathroom sink. You know what I mean! This was a pre-cut mask that fit nicely over your freshly clean face. You wear for about 10-15 minutes, pitch the mask and rinse your face – DONE – and it was literally that easy. The only con was that Ab said I was “scary” and it took her a few minutes to warm up to the idea that mommy was really under the mask.

(Not Your Mother’s – Clean Freak Style} As you can see in the image above my friend @Kelsey_Gal really loves this product. That actually got me super pumped to have dirty hair just so I could use this dry shampoo. I’m typically a wash-every-other-day hair person, I take a shower but just don’t wash my hair every day. I heard one time that it was better for your hair and as much as I blow dry and straighten my locks, I would believe this. I’m lucky enough that my hair actually looks pretty fantastic on day 2 so I actually had to wait till day 3 before I had some of the grease look. All you do is spray the dry shampoo into your roots, brush (I also blew my hair out while brushing) and DONE. I think the smell could be improved but the results were great.

{Sally Hansen Triple Shine} So I am prego and have decided that bending over to touch my toes let alone paint them is pretty much a chore. God love him, my fantastic husband was the one that actually painted my toe nails so that I could say I indeed used this product. The color I received was the bright yellow shown above, not my favorite color to wear especially when I’m already pale, but again it was worth the try. The applicator is not your typical brush, it is more of a long rectangle stick with a brush on the end, what is the purpose of that? I felt like a lot of the color just sort of hung there and too much was then dripped onto the nail. All in all, this product was okay. Not my favorite nail polish but yes, it was shiny.

{Goody ATHLETIQUE} It is pretty much a necessity for me to wear a sport headband when I engage in any sport/exercise. The day that I wore my Goody Athletique headband around the house it was a nice difference in just a pony but the day that I wore it to my very first Pure Barre class was just damned frustrating. I don’t have time to re-adjust and re-do my hair 20 times when I’m trying to tighten my “seat” and make sure my legs are in a perfect V on the floor. Needless to say, I’m going to stick with my beloved Sweaty Bands when it comes to my sport headband accessory. It got me through a half marathon withOUT budging  – it aint broke and I aint going to fix it.

{SOYJOY} If you haven’t noticed the pattern by now I’ll go ahead and point it out to you, I’m going from most favorite product to my least favorite product. Yes folks, this was least favorite. I’m sorry but it is straight up NAST-E! I took one bite, guzzled water to get it down, took another bite hoping it would get better. I spit that out and threw it away. Nothing else to say here 🙂

{Giveaway} The Simple Portrait Project Family Photo Shoot

With the holiday season upon us, it is impossible to not be in a giving mood. And in the spirit of “giving” I’m thrilled to be sharing this special giveaway on The Herron Nest with all of you.

I was recently approached by a very loving family about the idea of giving away a photo shoot to a family who doesn’t have the means to pay for this themselves. With presents to be purchased and large families to host, sometimes these extras aren’t in the budget, right?

Here is how this unique giveaway will work:

Please post a comment with a little description about what “family” means to you and why the donors should pick your family for this fun photo session {Check out the gallery and photo style of photographers, Jonbob and Jeremy, at http://thesimpleportraitproject.com}. Feel free to share this post with a family you feel will really appreciate the offer or “nominate” a family that deserves an opportunity to be photographed together for the holidays.

{Photo Shoot Details}

  • Plan to show up at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time, typically there will be many families there as they do back-to-back 30 minute sessions all day.
  • What you wear is as important—and so is what everyone else is wearing. Consider what the group is wearing as a whole. Look like you belong together; a similar color palette, similar season. Make sure clothes are clean and pressed because details show. And NO MATCHING OUTFITS!!! {per http://thesimpleportraitproject.com}
  • Expect two to four set-ups per 30-minute session. For larger groups, one session will probably only yield one beautiful group shoot
  • This a stress-free photo shoot.  No need for Sunday best – jeans and bare feet turn out great!

{Giveaway Details}

The giveaway includes one 1/2 hour photo shoot {date and time has already been chosen, make sure you are available for the time-slot} and 4 Hi Res JPEG “digital” prints via disc. Additional Hi Res JPEG files are $25 each available for your choice to purchase. There are also options of purchasing archival-quality signed prints {see pricing} or you can simply take the disc and choose your print method ie: Snapfish, Shutterfly, etc.

  • Date – December 1st
  • Time – 12:30 pm
  • Location – 308 8th Street, 6th Floor, Cincinnati, OH 45202

The family who wins the Simple Portrait Project Family Photo Shoot giveaway will be chosen on November 27th – all entries must be submitted by 1pm on 11/27 for consideration. Be sure to leave your email address in the comments section so that you can be contacted promptly.

*That’s right, I’m NOT picking the winner, Random.org is NOT picking the winner, but the anonymous family who is giving away the photo session, is going to decide.

Abbey Moments

As a parent of a toddler who is constantly in “entertainment” mode, I wish I could capture each and every single moment but that just isn’t possible. This blog along with Facebook and Instagram have certainly helped but I must say, this weekend was chock full of Abbyisms that I need to record now! Don’t want to forget…..Don’t want to forget…..Don’t want to forget! So here goes a few of my favorites even though this doesn’t cover even half of the moments. Pshhh.. if only TLC would recognize the disfunctional talent my family has and start taping us for our own reality show already. C’mon TLC, we are way more entertaining than Kate Gosselin.

{Abbeyism #1}

As Abbey, George and I were playing in our very empty basement she decides that she no longer wants to play and instead she wants to watch “Mickey Mouse Cub House.” And so she hops up on the couch and starts saying over and over “Mickey Mouse Cub House.” As a mom who wants to limit the TV time, I said no and told her she needed to come off the couch to play with mommy and daddy. She didn’t like my answer and decided to tell me again “Mickey Mouse Cub House Mommy.” At this point George had to cover his face so she wouldn’t see him laughing while I was disciplining. Abbey then shouted to George, “Daddy, I see you!” And then we were done, the laughing from the both of us was uncontrollable at that point. Although, we didn’t watch the show but did play. Mommy/Daddy 1 – Abbey 0Abbey and Mommy

{Abbeyism #2}

Goofing around on Sunday morning after Abbey had  woken up and still had her binky in her mouth (we are on a limit of naps and bedtime only as we further attempt to wean her from her binky time) and she had been snuggling with mommy and daddy. She pulled up my shirt and shared her binky with Squishy. Of course she thinks Squishy lives in my belly button and attempts to push the binky in my belly button or she will try to tickle Squishy and basically shoves her finger in my belly button. Awww sibling love!

{Abbeyism #3}Abbey tantrum

After taking Ab to the zoo for some Abbey and Mommy time (which we had a BLAST), we were getting in the car and Ab said to me, “I have fun momma.” Serious heart melter! I need to remember these sweet moments when she is sitting at the dinner table crying for 20 minutes over the last bite of food I want her to eat! That is a whole different story with the bottom line of mommy and daddy winning so I guess the score is now Mommy and Daddy 2 – Abbey 0. OH trust me friends, she wins a LOT! Did you see my Facebook post about the $9.00 pumpkins for her and Bubby? Yea, there was a lot of “Pease Momma” going on that day!

{Abbeyism #4}

Post Loveland Bike Trail PhotoComing home from a fun day Sunday of a couple miles in the Loveland bike trail (11.5 which is damn good for a prego) and dinner at The Works (not good by the way) we were in the car trying to keep Abbey awake. It was only 7:00pm and I wanted to make sure she got a bath when she got home and didn’t want her to fall asleep just to wake her up because she never would have gone down at descent time. So Abbey and I were bantering back and forth and I would yell back to her in a funny voice, “NO SLEEPING!” and she would yell it back to me and giggle. But one time after I yelled the “NO SLEEPING” she muttered under her breath, “Oh god.” Umm what? I had to correct her with, you mean “gosh.” Where does she learn this… ahem, George, I mean, I dunno.
